About this print: Much of the artist's work is focused on bringing life and beauty to the ordinary. In this image he uses brilliant colors and the interplay of those colors to enhance an interior view of a sparse and very basic kitchen in a large tenement building in New York City occupied by a friend. The original "Rent Controlled Kitchen" was a large 7 1/2 x 10' painting made in 1966 while the artist was still a graduate student at Pratt Institute. This print was created after the painting and at the same time the artist created the Broome Street Series. It was not technically a part of the series because it was not an interior from his Broome Street studio, although it appears with the series here.
