The subject matter for this print was a flower shop in a train station in Stockholm where the artist traveled during the summer of 1965. This was the first print in which the artist originated his reductive method of stenciling , whereby he gradually reduced the openings in the same stencil for each subsequent color. Pond’s printing process gave his prints a tactile relief surface by printing each new color layered on top of the previous one. This image was the basis for his first miniature print series.
