The image for this print was derived from a drawing the artist made of a Norwegian sea captain while riding on a train from Oslo to Stockholm. The drawing was made during the summer of 1965 when the artist explored many of Europe’s great art museums. This print was first exhibited in the Brooklyn Museum 15th Annual Print Exhibition. It was part of the Abby Grey Foundation collection of prints that traveled to Africa in 1967 and later became part of the New York University print collection.
